Award/Talk Shows

American Music Awards Slayed Me

Yesterday the American Music Awards was live from the Nokia Theater and (almost) everyone I love was in attendance.

Taylor Swift opened the show with a crazy, beautiful performance of “Blank Space” for the first time ever.

Taylor had it all. Fire. Lights. Any and every type of special effect you can think of was on that stage during her performance and I lalaloved every millisecond of it.

After a bit of Pitbull and his jokes, which were surprisingly funny, One Direction took the stage for Best Pop/Rock Band Duo.

Now. Let’s talk about Charli XCX’s performance. I already loved it before she even opened her mouth, because SET DESIGN! I want to know who designed it and have them mentor me for the rest of my life. First she started out at a “prom” wearing a fluffy dress and sunglasses. Little did we know that fluffy dress was going to be ripped off to expose a black latex (LOVE) dress and the sunglasses thrown to the side to reveal dark, dramatic eye makeup along with turning the “Boom Clap” performance into a “Break The Rules” riot! Charli and her clique set the stuff on fire and wrecked the pretty prom set and it was to die for.

MAGIC! and Wyclef performed “Rude” and I have to admit… I like that song, but I’m so tired of hearing it that I went and got a snack. I only missed screen time for about 30 seconds, but I still feel bad about it. The vocal performance was on point though, I have to admit.

Iggy Azalea won Rap/Hip-Hop Album which was only the first of the night. She said during her acceptance speech that that was the first award she had ever won. Not too shabby I-G-G-Y!

5 Seconds Of Summer rocked out to ‘What I Like About You’ and while some are confused as to why they performed a cover song instead of an original, it’s because their new album LiveSOS was announced a few days prior and WILAY is the first song that’s available from the live album. The boys, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin, absolutely rocked out and you tell. Also, shoutout to the AMA producers for giving us several shots of Ashton! I was so happy he didn’t get left out for the majority of the performance.

Imagine Dragons performed a new song, and I’ve got to say: Ever since I saw them in concert last February, I just can’t seem to get back into them.

Pop/Rock Male went to Sam Smith. His speech was the cutest. He’s so shy that he didn’t even know what to say. Smith soon after slayed us all with his performance of “I’m Not The Only One.” And when I say he slayed us, I mean he slayed us. I was crying literal tears.

Iggy Azalea came back with Charli XCX to perform “Fancy.”

Country Male went to Luke Bryan, no surprise.

We saw Lorde do her signature out-of-her-body dance while performing ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ while Taylor danced and sang along.

Pop/Rock Album went to One Direction making them 2/3 with one more category waiting to be announced.

Pop/Rock Female went to Katy Perry who gave her acceptance via video from Sydney, Australia and it was awkward. She had a lot of weird pauses and it just made it weird.

Alternative Artist went to Imagine Dragons and I loved it because 5SOS were sitting right behind them.

Following Imagine Dragon’s performance, Selena Gomez sang “The Heart Wants What It Wants” for the first time on television and it got emotional.

After the sang, Sel mouthed “Thank you Jesus” and it pretty much tore my heart apart. Also, the camera cut to Taylor who looked like she was a proud mother/best friend and also crying a little.

THE THE MOMENT WE (AKA I) WERE WAITING FOR!! New Artist Of The Year: 5 SECONDS OF SUMMMMMERRRR!!!! Yes!!!! It was the boys first time walking up on stage and giving an acceptance speech, and honestly they did better than I thought. They weren’t too serious or too silly, but just right. As they walked off stage we saw their reactions and it was then they went a little crazy.

Rap/Hip-Hop Artist went to Iggy, which I think shocked a lot of people but not me.

THEN THE (SECOND) TIME HAD COME! One Direction took the stage to sing their new single “Night Changes” and their vocals were like clouds. Liam’s melodies and background vocals lifted my spirit up, Zayn’s solo made me tear up, Louis’ perfection harmonies played my soul, Niall’s cute singing face made my heart happy and Harry… I just can’t.

Lil  Wayne performed “Start A Fire” with the help from Chirstina Milian and it was on fire. Besides the constant silent beats, Milian was on point and I was reminded how much I missed Wayne.

Nicki Minaj and Skylar Grey’s performance was okay to me, I wasn’t feeling it, but their voices were solid.

THEN THE AMAZING MOMENT OF THE NIGHT!

Taylor Alison Swift was awarded the first ever ‘Dick Clark Award For Excellence’ award.

I can’t even express my happiness for Taylor and everything she has achieved. A lot of people still think of her as the desperate girl who needs “love,” but honestly. Look at her. She’s killing it right now and she doesn’t care if people have the wrong perception of her or not.

Country album went to Brantley Gilbert, and I actually have some of his music in my iTunes library so it was cool to see him win against the other nominees.

Jessie J took the stage with Nicki and Ariana to perform “Bang Bang” and I loved (most) of it.

ARTIST OF THE YEAR: ONE DIRECTION!!!! This made the boys 3/3 for the night, winning the (other than the Dick Clark Award) biggest award of the night. So proud.

Iggy and JLo ended the show with a performance of their song “Booty.” They tried to recreate bits from their music video, but it honestly didn’t work out. Their graphics and effects didn’t translate well on television making their whole performance a little strange.

AND THAT WAS THE AMA’S! Until next year! Cheers, Ash

One Direction’s Live Stream Review

Hola amigas/amigos!
This past Sunday, the One Direction boys did a live stream with Google Hangout and reminisced the old days and talked about future ones.

One Direction at their Google Hangout Live Stream on Nov. 9, 2014.

One Direction at their Google Hangout Live Stream on Nov. 9, 2014.

Niall brought up how they used to do videos on the staircase, and my heart completely shattered. Do y’all remember “from the bottom of the staircase, to the top of the world” because I do and I could cry every time I have one of these moments.
The boys also talked about their new album ‘Four’ which drops Nov. 14!
I am sososoooooo excited for the album!
Anyway, here is the video where I talk about the live stream some more!

Love,

5SOS On Ellen And I’m Not Okay

You know when you get so excited for something on TV and throughout it you have that little voice in your head asking you why you’re not there?

I definitely heard that a lot today.

Being from a city in Texas where there isn’t much for me to thrive on, I’m usually reading Billboard magazine on my iPad or watching talk shows featuring artists I admire and well… Sometimes it’s sad.
I know one day I’m going to have a career that fulfills all this “FOMO” I’m experiencing right now, but I also need to work on my patience so I don’t drive myself crazy.

Today I had this while watching 5 Seconds Of Summer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and they were amazing as always, as was Ellen.

Here’s the video:

In the video (which you hopefully watched, haha) I said how I was happy for all the people that got tickets to see the boys in concert, and I am! I forgot to mention how I love that Ellen always has fun things for her audience and how she always says she likes making peoples dreams come true.

How many people say that on a daily basis, actually do and actually make things happen for other people?
Not many.
Ellen is so generous and caring and I just really love her a lot.

“Be kind to one another.” – Ellen
